cap locations?

ok i have seen diff locations for installing caps. but really..where is the right place for installing them..

really you can install them anywhere, but to get max performance its recommended that you install them within 2 feet of the amplifier.  Any further away from the amp and you will, more than likely, lose voltage and not get max performance from the amp and cap.

Wherever it is safe from short circuiting, where it looks the best and where it can "dump" into an amp the best, usually as close to the amp as possible.

install it far from the amp and mount it to the metal of your vehicle! lol  just kidding DO NOT DO THAT!   hey has anyone here witnessed a cap explode?  ive always wondered what it looks like.  someone told me it smells like peanut butter when they explode

Mount it close to the amp as possible. My first cap that I got I thought I could hook it up myself(When I first started out installing.) And I hooked the neg. up to the pos. side, and vice versa. On the RF caps there is like a little bump on it to keep it from blowing up I guess. Well anyway that poked a hole in the cap and discharged all over my car. It smelt REALLY bad, and the smell was hard to get out of there. So I suggest you be careful hooking it up.
