Your cd player might have the option to switch the rear outputs to non-fading. If not then the rear or front preamp outputs will be your only choice (you can always buy a good crossover, like the Audio Control 3xs, and get a sub output).

I looked at the manual for this unit.  It does not have the non-fading feature available.

I am afraid stevdart that you are out of luck with the feature that you want with this unit. A Pioneer unit equivilent to yours does offer this feature.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.fading to non-fading preout -- posted image.

A good solid bet is a outboard multicapacity unit like the Cadence QXR1. It is a line driver, crossover, phase shifter and has a dedicated dash mounted sub level control. It is a simple and easy upgrade for you. You need control of your sub system, another option would be one of the many Audio Control products.

Sorry for the delay guys, I'm on the west coast and I have to get the shop running before I can reply. The QXR1 is a for all intents and purposes a crossover. You would plug the front preout into it and then it splits it into High pass and low pass, line drives it, provides phase shifting for the subs and a dash mounted level control. So it has one pre in and two preouts, high pass for the front (which still fades) and low pass which does not. You would wire it in right before the front amplifier. For the second post it can be wired to an existing amplifier for power and ground.

If you wanted in dash control plus an eq you could look at the audiocontrol Three.1
