Hello,
I've been going thru various popular speaker manufacturer sites but it seems everything in 4X6 is purely 4 Ohm these days. I know it may be an odd request these days but if anybody has any suggestions for where I might find some nice 4X6 speakers in 8 (or 10) Ohm - I'd appreciate it.
thanks!

Not made any longer as far as I know.  Ultimate used to make one.  Why do you want an 8-ohm speaker?

I was afraid of that. Not what I was hoping to hear but thanks for the confirmation. I may end up having the ones I have reconed. Maybe some of the recone places can use modern materials and surrounds.
While I like a good modern audio system in most of my cars - I have a '71 Chevrolet that I'm going back to purely original. I have an early 70s Delco AM/FM stereo I just got going (massive amp heatsink separates). It's designed for 10 ohm speakers but 8 ohms should be OK (what I bench tested w/). 4 ohms will just stress the old amp too much I'm afraid.
I didn't really expect to find 10 ohms but one upon a time 8 ohm speakers weren't that uncommn in car audio IIRC. Looks like things have moved on since the day. :-)
I did find one place (lafayetteradio) w/ some 'generic' quality 4X6s that claim to be avail in either 4 or 8 ohm. I was hoping for something a little bit fancier but...
thanks!
