I am looking for an amp 2 power 2 12" Brahmas.  I want around 600, if not more watts RMS going to each sub (they will be sealed), and I would prefer to run this setup at 2 ohms.  The amps I have looked at pretty closely have been the JBL 1200.1 and Phoenix Golds Ti 1000.2.  (I know there is a huge price and quality difference there).  I like the JBL because I ran a 15" Brahma ported on it, and it sounded fine.  However, I always want better (doesn't everyone though?) and I am therefore looking at higher quality amps.

I am looking to keep the price tag down below 700, the less the better obviously.  I am not looking to compete here, just want something that sounds good.  However, I dont want to spend an extra 300 because "specs" say it will sound better.  I am not rich by any means, which is why the JBL looks so tempting, but I dotn want to invest over 700 bucks in bass,  and be left with a cheesy amp to push em.

Thanks for your guys help, all suggestions are more than welcome.

Evan

You might put this Planet Audio P2250D in the mix.  It should power those Brahmas very well.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

I have seen DYohn recommend this brand several times, and knowing his reputation I have come to think of Planet Audio as a high-end product.  But, unfortunately (for me), I don't have personal experience with them.

THANKS STEVEDART!! I completely forgot about Planet Audio for my new amp selection and that 2250D would be perfect with the 300.4 to match. Plus I have used them before and highly recommend. I'm still using the Planet Audio Mids/Tweets  too.

Hmmmm, mabye I was the only person dissapointed with my planet audio experience. I bought one about 4 years ago when the local shop picked them up, infact I think I bought the first one that came into the city, and I sold the thing about 2 weeks after getting it because I was dissapointed in the way it preformed. With that said, some of the most reputable guys on here recomend them and if they say its good stuff, far be it for me to disagree.

I have ran Planet amps and Have Tortured them to the Brink of Death...They are tough amps and sound great...

Plus if you do kill one Planet has a great return policy set up with their dealers...

Ravendarat, what model was that amp? How many watts? Not enough power for you or what was the problem?

I love my planet audio mids/tweets. They really do an excellent job of reproducing music the same as the artist made it.

I cant remember the model number, it was like 4 years ago and like I said, I only kept it for mabye 2 weeks. I had switch from my ix402 impulse kicker amp to this amp which was suposed to do about double the power and it just didnt do it. If it did the same kinda power as the kicker I would evenbe surprised. And to top it all off the first one I had died after about 4 hours, but that just happens. I also remember thinking the thing sounded very muggy. If I remember right I think I had an old kicker comp that was dual 2 ohm so I had it wired in 4 ohm because the amp was only stable to 4 ohms bridged but as I said, that was a long time ago.
