Yes it's the battery relocation question

If you have not noticed by the title, I want to move my car's battery (once I get my new optima) to my trunk, mostly because the Optima wont fit into my current location and because it would be more convienient. I have heard, however, that some people who have relocated his or her battery has sometimes had trouble starting the car. Is this true? Also, would I need to get the Optima battery ventiliated in my trunk? I was thinking because it is a dry cell that I wouldn't have to.

Whoops, I forgot one thing. If I do relocate, which wire is it that I have to replace with the longer 18 or so feet of wire. Is it positive battery to positive alternator? I am unsure of this too

there are 2 wires, (most vehicles) one goes directly to the starter or starter relay and the other goes to the alternator, on the positive lead. Now for the negative lead there normally is just one, and it either goes to the engine block or to the frame of the vehicle. I can see a problem with starting, if the battery is not grounded properly ! This is not like a seat bolt or a self tapping screw into the body style ground, it really needs a STRONG ground, like to the frame.

okay that helps a lot and thinking about it, the job doesn't seem to hard actually because all you need to do is follow the wires currently hooked up and put in a longer versoin, and lower AWG. But I still don't know if I were to get a dry cell battery if I would need outside ventilation. Anybody know?

yeah i have a summit magazine and they sell their version of the relocation kits for something around 40 bucks for 2 AWG wire, and it comes with that box to secure the battery and some screws and such
