I have had my system hoooked up for about 3 months now and jus recently this week it started acting up. During hot days in texas, sometimes my speakers dont power on. Im not sayin its because of the outside temp but cool early mornings and late nights when the sun is down, the speakers power on with the turn of the ignition. as i said though, my speakers played fine for about 3 months no problem. i cant pin point the troubleshoot. im tryna think of all the info i need to provide for u guys to give me accurate opinions. i have a mono quantum audio amp 2000 X 1 @ 2ohms-rated at 14.4 volts, 1000 X 1@ 4ohms-rated at 14.4 volts. the 15's are audiobahn. rated at 500 rms. the way circuit city wired them gave out a ohm load of 2.67 so the amp should be stable at that load. the wires where installed by circuit city so they are nice and neatly installed. help please...

trace the wire and see if they came loose. or check for grounding out. test the speakers with a dmm. see if they have any resistance. check your amp for output with a dmm.

Does your entire system shut down or just the subwooferes?  If it's just the subs, I suspect the amp is dying, especially if it is heat-related.  One down-side of cheaply-made equipment is it does not last long.

no the  entire system does not cut off...jus the subs dont power on..the amp's power light is bright and strong so i didnt think it had nothin to do wit the power supply or ground. that last post sounds right..cuz i really  think its heat related. like i said during the day when its blazin in texas..the subs dont play..but at night or morning when the temp is kool. its all good. so i kno it aint nothin bout a short..or loose..whateva...i sure hate to have to deal wit tryna replace dis amp...damn quantum audio.

First, is the amp still under warranty?  You say it was installed 3 months ago so you might get lucky and be able to get your money back.  "Quantum Audio" is a low-end brand to be sure... if  you need to stick with Circuit City, I believe they sell Kicker and MTX, either of which is a huge step up and much more reliable.  Don't get fooled by power ratings.  Your subs will sound just fine with any decent quality mono amp you decide you can afford.

yea i understand DYohn. that happens you kno. u see that big 2000 watts. and your eyes light up. then a good price and a nice look tops it off. right when i was writing this topic i was checkin into my warranty. a friend was tellin me that he never trusted them new amp brands..said they arent built to last. he said if i was tryna save a lil money a good brand would be hifonics..what do u think sir. he said at a store named fry's they have a 1600 watt mono hifonics brutus amp for about 360.

Hifonics is a decent brand.  Frys is one of my favorite stores.
