Where to start?
Back in March I made my amp shoot flames, sent the amp to crossfire and got it fixed. When it came back, I hooked it up and noticed a high pitched whining noise. Kinda like a dail up modem. So right before I left for deployment I sent my amp back again.I have my amp back from crossfire again and installed it. There is still a whining noise coming from the amp. I noticed that if I turn the power to my stereo off, the whining stops, could it be the ground on my stereo, the accessory wire, or what?
So far I have tried a muting plug, ground loop isolator, and of course sending it back to the company. The amp still runs and I can hear awesome bass, but the whining sound from the amp can also be heard through the subs when they are hook up. So I worried about using the amp the way it is. I've spoken to many people about my ground from the spare battery to the amp and all say it should be fine. So what else could it be?
thanks for the help

Amp shot flames.....any chance that the outputs of the cd player were shorted as well? Is this noise a set level, is it there only when the vehicle is running, is it up and down with engine rpm, what vehicle is this in, what have you done for grounding and size of wiring? Unplug the rca cables, is the noise still there?

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

The outputs seem fine. The CD Player is fine. Noise is at a set level. It's whenever the CD Player is on, the vehicle doesn't have to be on. Not an alternator whine problem. It's in a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus. I have not upgraded the Big 3, however, from the stock battery in the front to the spare battery in the trunk the Pos cabel is 1/0 awg. The Neg cable on spare battery is 1/0awg and is grounded with a gold grounding terminal bolted to the chassis in the trunk.
I have unplugged the RCA's, Noise still there, I have used a muting plug on the RCA inputs of the amp, noise still there. I sent the amp back for this reason, noise still there. If I unplug the accesory power wire, noise gone, if i keep it plugged in, and turn the stereo off, noise stops.

Unplug the speaker wiring and run new temporary wiring to the subs. Is the sound still there? Is the amp itself making noise or is it only coming from the speakers?

If the amplifier is making a high-pitched sound from the case with no input and no speakers connected to it, it is certainly defective.  Probably a fried power supply cap, a bad internal ground plane or a fried output stage feedback circuit.  Disconnect it.

Get one of their customer service reps on the phone and carefully describe the problem, including that this will be 3 times back to them and they have failed to repair the problem.  Maybe they will kick in on the shipping.

ok so the customer service rep, thinks it something in my car. what could it be? he says the last time they fixed it, they tested it for everything and would have caught the whining sound in the amp.
