could someone please give me a some advice on how to make a unit to drop a speaker level out from a factory head unit to a line level to my amp, The car is a 05 fiesta with both front and rear speaker outputs. Any help will be great thanks

It would probably cost you more to make one than to simply purchase one. They can be had very inexpensively. David Navone line converters are highly regarded, as are ones from PAC.

its not so much the cost as it is learning, i build little things at home for lighting and audio systems but the more i do the more i learn, even if i can just get some sort of idea to how they work should be enough

Ah, gotcha. They can be very simple devices like resistive networks, but most good quality LOCs designed for car audio include potentiometers for level matching, and some have active noise filter components. The key is to choose components that can handle the power of speaker-level signals without introducing noise and distortion. Non-inductive resisters are best. iv seen that site but iv also seen it with a transformer but my worry with the transfomeris that its designed to work with a constant a/c suply at 60hz so can see it being a high quality sound, maybe if i just drop the wattage the way it shows but then run it through a second potetiometer, or a simple compresor??? what you think?

iv just drawn this plan up with an idea for a speaker to line converter bit by bit i intend on building most of the install by hand from the speaker to line converter to the amps them selfes if someone could please take a look at this and give some values for the crossovers i could start on there design, hopefully others will gain some help from this to.

PLEASE BE HONEST AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK.
