There is already an aftermarket stereo in there now. My question is, how do i take that whole trim piece, that goes around the stereo and the instrument cluster, out without breaking anything. Is it just held in by a few bolts or is it all clips. This is my first time working on a saturn; usually i stick to vw's, and i don't want to break anything. Thanks for your help.

i've never looked at a diagram or asked any questions when taking a dash apart. just lightly pull and pry at things to figure out where screws/clips are located and go from there. im gunna take a random shot -- never worked on a saturn -- that they're all clips and maybe like 2 screws at the bottom... cheap cars...

it should be just clips.i have a 94 saturn and everythign in that car is held by clips. just pull on it... be rough, but gentle you know? sometimes you gotta learn the hard way. thats how i learned :( When i first tried to install an amp in my saturn i thought i broke the floor panels by the door by pulling them out. $50 later i found that pushing, pulling and banging shhh aroudn in a saturn is the way to go. (had the amp installed professionally)

You need to remove three 5.5 mm screws underneath the steering column shroud and tilt the wheel down all the way.  Pop out the dimmer switch and unplug it.  Off to the side of the dash right next to the door, the air vent snaps into this piece.  You can unbolt this piece inside the door jam, or what I do- carefully pry it out so as not to break it.  Once all this is done, the trim piece unsnaps and comes out.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
