speaker polarity problem

hi, im putting in some alpine speakers in my 1999 durango. ih ave downloaded the speaker wire diagram for my vehicle from this site, and it does ot match with my car. i connected the speakers with the best of my knowledge, but now im afraid to give em a try. whats the worst that could happen?? i have 4x 50rms alpines on a 4x50rms kenwood reciever. what will happen if i did wire them wrong? looking for a quick response, thanks.  

the bass would be off. one speaker would cancel the other out. here is what i have

well, the thing is. i have the 4 passanger version, there is no amp. i think thats why those charts dont match with my car. for example, my Rear Right speaker has two wires, blue/white and blue/orange. so my guess was that white was the negative, as thats the standart. would i be able to notice the sound differance, so i could flip the cables?

time to whip out the old DMM and figure it out the hard way eh?

well all fixed, i figured out that my multimeter can tell positive/negative volt; aka polarity. so it turned out to be simple, thanks for the help.

if the signal is simply going from the HU through the existing factory wiring it should be simple. The white striped wires are positive. Any black stripe is negative They would still play, but some speakers could be 'out of phase' from each other. This means that when on speaker moves 'forward' the other speaker moves 'backwards'
