The Epicenter has a very detailed manual.  Did you read and understand it?  The rule for setting amplifier gain is that it is always the last thing to do when there has been any changes in the signal path.  It is often desirable to check and reset the gain setting with test tones on more than one occasion when setting up peripherals like the Epicenter.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

And my personal opinion for the epicenter setting is "setting in the dumpster" I don't like them, and a properly set-up system won't need one. If there EVER was a less needed device in car audio, that's the one. It is perfectly capable of overdriving your woofers and clipping your amplifiers. Both of these are bad things. Because of both of those things, they require you to buy more amplifier than you need, simply to keep from clipping it's output, which demands you buy a bigger woofer to use the additional power, which will allow you to use all the power, which will cause you to clip your amplifiers outputs, requiring you to get a bigger amp...
See where that's going? Try removing the Epicenter, and see if you can do without it. You might be surprised...
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Thanks for your input, i will give it a try with the epicenter functioning correctly and with the straight amplifier, i put it on because it was given to me free, i thought of it as a small bass boost on some of my mexican music...i will post the results of my satisfaction with and without the epicenter...Epicenter Settings -- posted image.
