07 f150, ready remote remote starter

I just bought a ready remoter starter by directed electronics and had it installed by a local authorized dealer.  The model remote is 24926 and my truck is an 07 Ford F150.  I paid about $230.00 for the install and an additional bypass because of the securilock feature.  The installer tells me that the other features of the remote will not work, such as the car finder feature, daily start, vacation modes, and panic mode.  I can not get my vehicle to start from my home window which is only about 200 feet away from my truck.  On top of that, when it does start, I can't tell because I don't see any indication of the motor running.  Aren't all the features supposed to work?  I think there is supposed to be a hood latch for safety purposes and I don't see it either.  Have I been robbed?  Thanks.Airborne73505

that is not the model# thats the remote fcc # the model# would be on your reciept and/or your user manual, as to features,car finder(if its capable)is just the horn wire being hooked up which the very basic d.e.i. units dont have an out put for, the confirmation would be the park lights flashing when signal recieved then staying on while running if they dont its a feature they didnt hook up, the range can be affected by many things one of which is interference which the fcc says it must be able to accept but might be an antenna issue(can you see the antenna up on the windshiedl? some installers and businesses do not run antenna on cheap units and try to upsell you extended range which is only mounting the antenna)the hood switch while a great safety feature is not always installed some places only install the on/off toggle switch while some installs rely on the mechanic removing a fuse to disable it more info would be helpful (which model# d.e.i. unit )

Yeah, I checked the receipt and the owner's manual for the Ready Remote.  The model number for the Ready Remote is 24926, while the RPN for the key fog is 26161.  I knew the parking lights would/should flash to indicate the signal was received.  Right now I have no indication other than leaving my AC on full blast and watching for my hanging dodads from the rear view mirror. LOL.  Monday morning I'm bringing it back to the installer to have the work done correctly.  As far as the antenna, it is centered on my windshield and apparantly hooked up correctly.  The bypass unit from dei is 556u.  Do I need other modules/parts for the other features to work or is that truck model independant?  Thanks for all the replies.Airborne73505

I feel what your saying.  That is the remote model number.  I also posted that to a previous reply.  Had I know how to do it myself, I would have.  The wiring appears to be shoddy also, it isn't protected and loosely connected with electrical tape, some wires are running through unprotected feed throughs through the fire wall. Airborne73505

I have installed a few and they seem to have terrible range on most units. If it has an external antenna it should be better then that but if it has a thin wire attached then 200 feet is optimum for that unit and if there is outside interference then that diminishes the range even more. I dislike these units and don't care much to install them because of there lack of range and features. I would have got a regular DEI piece like their Viper or Hornet line.The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.

Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

my apologies thats not a model # i recognized from when i was a dei installer, was expecting a 552t/551t etc, as for the hoodpin safety there are alot of places that use the shut off switch and leave it up to the customers to turn off as damage and corrosion from weather and oil changes etc so to cut down o their comebacks they dont instal it have gone on many repairs over the years for a broken hood pin or out of adjustment merc tilt due to a service tech hitting it and thereby causing the remote start not to work, i would definately have the install shop check the range unless the lit says thats all it would get and if thats the case price seemed a bit high for a low end unit good luck

The range claimed is 1000 feet, so far I've been able to start it from about 200 feet, haven't tried from a parking lot yet, like wally world.Airborne73505
