Hi!, i'm struggling with this: have diesel engine. Must find: "wait to start# wire behind instrument cluster. Cannot use glow relay, it's energized all the time when key is on, even if glow plug light is off. There MUST be a cable that powers up that lamp.
Hope someone knows this, not much X-trail stuff here...
Thanx!

compustar car alarm/start combo. 2W900FM-AS. The manual says if you connect wait to glow it's all automatic. If you dont.... well then it assumes you have gas engine....  little bit of a puzzle. I measured the relay and was looking at the lamp at the same time. The lamp went off, but realy still energized...

2 Options,  1st, pull the inst. panel, hope its not solid state and use your DMM to trace the glow plug bulb feed wire, check it's polarity then wire up to suit.   2nd, is there a timed wait to start option on Compustar similar to DEI? You could use that set to say 4 secs. As a matter of interest, if you can turn the key and it imediately starts, even in winter, then don't worry, leave it set to petrol.

Hi there! thanks for ur suggestions. I've been thinking of checking each cable in cluster with DMM. But there's alot of them and after 2 tries, the light does not come on anymore. Yes, the car starts immediately if i turn the key all the way and it's probably glowing all the way. However, Norway can be -25°C at times and i'm not sure how that would work. Could ask the dealer. But it also seems that the glow lamp is kind of living its own life regardless of glow relay. I was thinking of just placing a timer that delays a signal to alarm for about 4 to 6 seconds. Triggered by the glow relay. That should do the trick and at the same time always assure glow before start. Not necessary to use the DEI timer for this function as long i get the same result. To much hassle to order that little thing from over there. Will try next weekend and let u hear how it goes. nissan x trail 2005 mt diesel -- posted image.

OK, tried a relay, have this signal now, can adjust delay if i want to. I cannot find a tach signal. Has anyone heard of what cable this is?? maybe i have to use alternator signal. It's just that the manual says to use tach signal for MT. not sure here. I need it though, to make things work.. thanks anyone..

This confuses me: what is the rearm output and disarm output??(-200mA) is it for cars with factory alarm? i have hooked up lock/unlock pulse. though that was enough. need some help here.....   nothing happened when i put power. The override transponder seems to have learned, it did exactly what instructions said. I found a cable in instrument cluster for alternator, hope it'll work. But i must have missed something essential here since nothing happens, execpt 3 chirps i think. need some brainstorming..
thanks!

OK, newsflash!! remotes are apparently NOT programmed to the brain from dealer. Had to do this, then things started to happen. thank god!!!  will get back with more. wil send wiring diagram to anyone who can post it in the database. But not until all is as it should be. Remote start works also. Have some difficulties with the second accessory. Fan will not run, but relay is on and there should be power at the correct cable in the harness. But,, will check this thorough next weekend. Now i have an alarm w remote start and remote pager as well. cheers!!

Chevy70,
I'm thinking maybe your X-Trail is similar to our U.S. Frontier? It's a pickup truck, right? I saw an X-Trail diesel in Brazil, and it looked like a Frontier to me.
1. Disarm and rearm: Yes, it's typically used for vehicles that have a factory alarm.
I only know a little bit about Compustar, but generally, the disarm wire will make a pulse before remote starting, and during unlock. This could be used to disarm a factory alarm.
The rearm output will generally make a pulse after the remote starter shuts down, and depending on the brand of remote start, sometimes when locking as well.
That's to rearm the factory alarm after the remote starter times out. Some cars also unlock their doors automatically when the remote start times out, and you could use the rearm output to lock the doors again.
2. Accessories: You've got the right idea. Put your meter to the car's wire, turn on the remote starter, and see what happens.
The Compustar's output might be programmable. Do you have it set to Accessory, and not as an Ignition or Starter?
Also, if your X-Trail is anything like our Frontier, you should have two accessory wires. One powers the climate controls, and the other powers up the radio, cigarette lighter, and a few other un-needed items.
Does the radio work with remote start?
On my cars, I prefer to leave the radio wire unpowered during remote start. That way, you won't disturb your neighbors, and also, if you had a CD playing, as soon as you get in and turn the key on, you'll hear the same song you were listening to when you parked.
So anyway, if the radio does work during remote start, then that output from the Compustar must be working correctly.
I would move the Compustar's accessory wire away from the radio wire, connect it to the heater wire, and leave the radio wire unpowered.
If you want to know which wire on the truck is which, simply test. The heater wire will show power only in the Run position, while the radio wire will show power in the Accessory and Run positions.

Hi Chris! thanks a lot for ur lines. I figured out that i did not need the disarm/rearm. we can bury that chapter now.
Accessory is another story. There is one accessory cable that supplies a lot as you say: radio, ac, etc. etc. But here's the thing: there is a separate cable that supplies the fan blower relay! thats the one i hooked up to 2nd accessory, used the -200mA BLACK/ white cable from compustar to trigger the relay during remote start and it does, but fan does not run, AC start and god knows what doesnt.. just not the fan. But dont put too much effort on this, i will figure it out, just give me next weekend. PS! the fan get supply directly from battery so when the relay is triggered, it should kick in. Strange thing also: i tested this yesterday before hooking up, i supplied power to the cable of blower relay and it started. Anyway, have a nice day and st. by for my next reply.
