Passloc 2 Question

I have a 1996 Sunfire GT that currently has a remote starter installed.  In the near future I will be installing my new autopage rs750 remote start/alarm system.  My question is will the passloc already be bypassed or will i have to get something to bypass it?

Yes, the passlock will be bypassed already but you will have to interface it with your new unit. Oh yeah and that car has Passlock I in it, not II.J Rilla

How will I know what is bypassing the passloc??

Depending on how it was bypassed and where, there will be some sort of module or maybe just a relay. The passlock wires are thin gauge wires that are yellow and Black and they come from the key cylinder and run down the steeering column. Look all along the wires for where they were bypassed. Basically if it was installed properly, you should be able to just follow a wire from the bypass kit to the starter and this wire is what you need to hook up to your new alarm as a ground out when running wire. The rest of the wires will need to stay where they are. Since you will be cutting out an old unit and installing new one, use the previously installed wires to your advantage and cut them long enough so that you dont have to make your new connections to the factory harnesses way under the dash. This means you should also cut the wires from the new starter as short as you need in order to avoid a real mess under there. Oh yeah, and you should only do so if the original connections were soldered. and you should solder your new connections if possible.J Rilla
