Alright, so one of our installers and I were swapping out a 460HP for an 872P on a 97 civic manual trans. today. Everything on the primary harness is fine. We did run into a problem with the tach wire though. It shows in the manual that you should set your meter to AC to test it and it should fluctuate between 5-10 volts. We found a harness on the back of the gauge cluster that when removed, the tach didnt function (obviously on there). So the wiring diagram on this site says it is a solid blue wire. But this one shows 29.2 and when you rev it goes down to 26. The brain was able to learn it apparently though. Only problem is, when we go to remote start, it errors. It keeps saying that the neutral safety wire doesn't have a proper ground. We have tried several diff. grounding locations, and tested each one, to no avail. Now I am honestly stumped. Hoping that someone has some suggestions, if not I guess it is time to call up DEI tech support.
And yes, we tested every wire we could find on the ignition coil for something that seemed like the tach, nothing but the blue one worked.

The blue wire sounds very familer, I believe that on this car that there is a tach test connector on the driver side of the motor near the fire wall its also a blue wire its a small pug with just that wire in it , its usally taped to a harness, I personaly never seen it plug in to anything, so it should be free not to much slack though,  you could try to change the tach thresh hold jumper  on the brain and re-learn it

hops this helps but If Im wrong or no help im sorry havent done that year civic in a while
