Hi i installed my viper 791xv on my 2004 honda crv a few years ago, which everything work just fine, but the only problem i always had was that i can't use my valet button to program anything

I don't know if im missing some wiring that will make it active because right now im trying to program a new remote that i just bought

The problem is that when i press the valet button the LED won't light up and even the alarm won't chirp either, I think that the LED and the Valet button work fine when im using it normally, i know this because when its arm the LED flashes and when the siren went ON i press the Valet button and it turn it off

My unit was not lock because i gave it to an installer that uses one of the bitwriter to see if its lock or not

Can somebody help me getting this valet button to work please

Thank You

ok so you can override the system using the button then it works, it also means ur ignition wire is properly connected, and ur sure ur brain isn't locked, so it leaves one probability, ur door wire must see a ground when programming, make sure it's connected, and seeing the proper ground, it's a dark green wire from the primary harness of ur brain.

Depends on the car, MOST cars including your CRV would use neg swtching at the (door) contact switches, ignore the purple. Open the green and connect straight to ground, since we know from above that a) the valet switch works, also try to arm the alarm with the ignition on, via your remote control, if it fails to arm then we know that b) The ignition connection works (I've even metered that switch to make sure). You could even run continuity from where the green wire goes into the alarm's plug to ground with doors closed then open, it should read from infinity down to about 5ohms or less when you open the door. If all these tests come up OK then you have a faulty brain. N.B. You can't programme it using the purple to live, you have to ground the green, found that out on a UK spec 500XV recently.

thank howie II

since where i live right now is below zero so i won't be able to work on my car for awhile

so if im not wrong all i have to do is take the green wire and ground it then i should be able to use the valet to program the unit

if i can get it to work should i just leave it grounded

I wouldn't. I would go ahead and wire all the door pins through diodes, as it was meant to be installed.

Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
Story - Phzzzt! Hey, what happened?! ... Isn't it obvious?
Moral - Never dismiss the obvious.

One door contact does all, no diodes required, go to dome light feed GREEN/ red or floor loom, can't tell you which side 'cause Japanese and and UK have right/hand drive and looms might be on left side in North America. It's right hand "A" pillar or floor loom over here.
