Are you sure you're programming the new remote correctly?

Instructions on how to reprogram a remote into an existing

AstroStart system.

Note: Some older AstroStart systems can only have the remote reprogrammed by accessing

the main unit (sequence B listed below).

A) For vehicles equipped with a Hood Pin Switch (installed with AstroStart system).

1. Open the hood of your car. Make certain the hood pin switch pops up, spray some lubricant on the plunger if

necessary.

2. Put the key in the ignition and turn it to Position II (ON with accessories)

3. Press on the brakes once.

4. Cycle the key in the ignition 3 times from Position II to OFF, DON'T Start the car. Do this in a slow

methodical manner but within a 10 second period. The vehicle signal lights or dash lights should flash 3

times to indicate that the system is now in learn mode.

5. Press any button (except the red panic button on 6 button remotes) on the remote for 3 seconds. If you have

multiple remotes (up to 4 remotes) repeat this step for each subsequent remote in a sequential manner.

6. Turn the key to OFF.

7. Hit the brakes once.

8. Close the hood.

B) For vehicles not equipped with a Hood Pin Switch.

1. Locate the AstroStart unit under the driver side dash. You are looking for either a square black box or

rectangular black box. On the unit you will see 9 dip switches, make them accessible.

2. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to Position II (so the climate controls will work).

3. Put the dip switch # 8 on the module to ON (OFF by default).

4. Hit the brakes once. (The unit will now be in learn mode).

5. Press any button (except the red panic button on 6 button remotes) on the remote for 3 seconds. If you have

multiple remotes (up to 4 remotes) repeat this step for each subsequent remote in a sequential manner.

6. Put the dip switch 8 back to OFF

7. Turn the key to OFF

8. Hit the brakes again.

My dash lights actually flash 4 times after ignition is cycled 3.

Is this telling me something else is wrong?
