First I want to say thank you to all for the help given on this site. I use it often and up to now have never even had to ask a question, the search button revealed all...

Unfortunately, no luck today. I just finished installing a remote start add on (DEI Valet 561T) onto a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. All went fairly well until I got to the transponder bypass portion.

I am using the Omega "IB-UMIT-3" Bypass module.

I was able to get it to program, and if I hold the module up next to the ignition it will remote start fine, but I have wrapped the antenna loop around the cylinder every way I can think of and have had no luck at all!

One oddity I found on this particular bypass loop antenna is it is not one that allows you to wrap it more than once... The length is just larger than the cylinder. Appears to be bare wire encased in a loose spiral wrap (In other words I can pull the wrap back and see the copper wire underneath). All the others I have installed had a super low gauge wire I could wrap around it 3+ times, but not this one.

I considered trying to make my own antenna and do the normal multi loop around it, anyone had any luck doing this?

Also, the search button did reveal quite a few Mitsubishi installs where it was required to bypass the key sense wire during remote start. I did NOT do this but again it works fine when I hold the module near the cylinder directly but NOT when using the antenna. Should I still try bypassing the key sense line?

Thanks for any help!

it sounds like you need to use another bypass. i never had much good luck with the Omega KIB bypasses.

It sounds like the type of antenna DEI uses in the 556U. You can make the loop smaller by taping it closed some. Place it on the outer edge of the factory coil so it is tight.
