Scoop:
1 button remote start (AST) install on a 2000 Olds Alero v6 auto.
XK01 for the passlock function.
The car starts then shuts off so I believe the XKO1 is the problem. The module does power on but does NOT allow me to set the vehicle type or go through any of the setup functions using the button and LED.
I've had the unit re-flashed just in case and that did not make a difference. The XK01's hooked up to and I've metered the following: ground when running from the start module, power, ground and the data (purple wire) to OBD2 pin2.
Questions:
Do i need to hook up any of the other xk01 wires? they all appear to be optional for what i'm trying to accomplish.
Has anyone else ever had a module that would not enter setup mode? I'm supposed to start with it unplugged, key off. Plug it in, turn on key and set vehicle type. doesn't work. I also cannot access the options as option 8 is supposed to reset the module (according to xpresskit.com faq)
Again car starts fine then shuts off.
Thank you in advance

xko1 doesnt do the bypass in that car only door locks and factory alarm...you need an xk06 xk01? -- posted image. that company make 11 bypasses for that car, 10 which do the bypass, you picked the only one that doesnt LOL

Yes it does... Use the AMDL 6.0 software if you don't have it flashed already yet.
You are on the right track, but I think the module already might be programmed. If it blinks 4 times when the key is turned to on it is already programmed. For your reset to work you will have to hook up unlock to your remote start/keyless system or send a negative pulse to that wire.
That or else your data wire is not connected properly causing an increase in resistance, which will throw your input/output off for the module. Make sure the connection to the Data wire is SOLDERED and taped.
Message me if you are in Omaha and I can probably walk you through it over the phone.

mike: thanks. It's got the AMDL6.0 flash,

The LED does not flash, it's solid the whole time regardless of on/off/start. which is what's driving me bonkers, i can't even get to a point where I can tell the thing what to do.

Okay it is not reading the ignition position then. Try soldering the connection like I said, and if not try a new XK01 if possible. Unfortunately this does not have a separate ignition wire like the xk06 does.
Also there is a note for the Alero. It says factory remote only, but I believe that pertains to the door lock issue not PK2 override.
