First off I have a 1994 GMC S-15 jimmy. It does have the factory keyless entry. I just bought crimstopper's cs-2011rs alarm/remote start. Before I install it i was looking over the instructions and I have a few questions. What is the M.A.P. Output? Do i want it? Do i need it? What is the (-) Start Activation input? The alarm i am installing is set up to where on the 2nd push of the unlock button, the passengger doors unlock. Can I use the existing wire from my keyless entry to do this? Same with the trunk? Also can i tie into the existing wire that locks? Any help is appreciated!

  • What is the M.A.P. Output? Do i want it? Do i need it?
      • The MAP or 1st EXT is just a ( - ) output wire that you can use for any device that you wish to operate via remote control, eg. trunk release, window roll up modules, horn honk, sunroof open/close, etc.....

 

  • What is the (-) Start Activation input?
      • This wire will activate the remote start on your CS2011RS with a ( - ) pulse trigger from an external device like an alarm, a toggle switch or OEM keyless entry.

 

  • The alarm i am installing is set up to where on the 2nd push of the unlock button, the passengger doors unlock. Can I use the existing wire from my keyless entry to do this?
      • This is a priority door lock system that you can install but you need to separate your door lock's from each other if you wish this to work. If your doors lock and unlock with a master switch on the driver side you will not be able to use this function unless you separate the doors from each other otherwise it will still unlock all doors. You will be able to use the existing wires from the OEM keyless entry for this sype of install. Your GMC has positive door lock system.

 

  • Same with the trunk?
      • All you need to do with the trunk release is to wire in a relay to convert the ( - ) output of the CS2011RS to a ( + ) so that it will activate the hatch release on the GMC.

 

  • Also can i tie into the existing wire that locks?
      • Yes, you can tie into all of these wires without having to remove the OEM keyless entry unit.

I'm not sure about that particular model but on some GM's with drivers priority RKE, the RKE module exclusively controls the driver's door unlock.  In other words even when you press the button on the drivers door, what happens is that the 3 passenger doors are automatically activated by the switch.  However the driver's door gets unlocked because the switch sends a signal to the RKE which in turn sends a pulse to unlock the driver's door.

If his system works like this (again I'm not sure about that model) if the wire is cut that unlocks the driver's door from the RKE the driver's door will not unlock by the switch.  If you splice into that wire and wire a 1st pulse unlock output (for alarms that can be set-up for two unlock  pulses) up to that wire corrrectly (with diodes?), then that door should be controllable by the first pulse only.  Leaving the wire connected to the RKE will still allow the switch to unlock the driver's door as well.

I'm not certain about this but a way to test for this kind of system might be as follows.  Sit in the car and lock the doors.  Press the unlock button on the transmitter once to unlock the drivers door and quickly lock the driver's door manually and then press the button again (to unlock all doors).  If the RKE controls the driver's door exclusively, on the second pulse only the 3 remaining doors will unlock, not the drivers door.  (Pressing the button a 3rd time, however, will unlock ALL the doors.)

Like I said though, that vehicle might not use that kind of system at all--but I'm pretty sure most newer GMs with RKE do this.
