Hi All
Have an Astroflex 1100 installed in a 2004 GMC Yukon. My vehicle is now stuck at the side of the road. One of the wires the insulation stripped off of it (one that was going to P5) and rubbed against the metal on the brake pedal - sparks flew and my wife turned the vehicle off as she should. However, now when we turn the ignition all we get is the horn sounding.
Any suggestions for this newbie?

start removing fuses to the astro unit. this will prevent it from turning on.

well, I had hoped this would work, but it did not.
When I removed the 4th fuse from the bank of fuses attached to the astro, the horn quits sounding when turning the key to ignition. However, the truck does not start. I removed all 4 fuses and the truck does the same thing. Key turn to pre-ignition, I get dash lights, etc ... when you turn to ignite then I get no click, no turn, no lights on the dash, nothing.
The two wires that go to P5 -- the one that was shorted to metal was the one that goes into some type of switch mechanism and back out. The other one looks like ground.

the car most likely has a starter kill installed.

your best bet is to open up the steering collumn and look for a relay. report back asap so we can help you get the vehicle back on the road asap

P-5 is a programable output. more than likely used for the 2nd ign. or accs.

Look at the P-4 and see if the light blue is used. This is the built in anti-grind starter kill.

disconnect this and put the starter wire back together. Youll see, one half of the starter wire is on the light blue, the

other half is on the dark blue!
