1998 dodge ram factory keyless entry

Hi,

I am trying to install the factory keyless entry system into my 1998 Dodge Ram that did not come with it.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to wire the door locks.  I can get everything to work, but, when I hit the locks my lights dim very low and the locks are very slow, so, I'm assuming something is hooked up wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  It seems this is a feat few have wanted to tackle...haha.  Also, I like factory stuff, so, thats why I'm going that route :)

I have an orange and a pink wire, both with black stripes coming out of the central timer module, both are hot all the time and actually lock/unlock the door locks. 

I also have an orange an a pink wire, both with green stripes, that have no power coming through them from this box, but, supposedly, from a factory service manual, these also go to the locks.

The weird thing is, I can hook up just the keyless entry to the locks, and it'll work perfect, or, I can hook just the locks up and they work perfect, but, with both, it acts funny. 

Also, here is the wiring diagram I found online for it.  I just know the basics of electrical stuff, so, i'm not real sure what to do here...haha.

Thats what I was afraid of.  Well, it was a good thought...haha.

I'd like to try and make some of the other CTM features work though.  Steering wheel radio controls, maybe the temp/direction thing on the roof.  I'm thinking I'll go for an aftermarket keyless entry, though.  Not too worried about an alarm, I'd rather just have the keyless entry part.

What mean you "lock wire is a positive trigger unlock is reverse polarity?" On my 2000 dodge ram 1500 that had what appeared to be a factory/dealer installed keyless entry/remote start. The installer used a DEI 5-wire module to interface with the lock wiring at the CTM. To the OP: your lights dim and the locks work slow because your creating a short, best rethink your hook up. You say that the lock motor wires rest at 12v so you can't just tap them and ground one or the other, it creates a short. I do believe, as my truck's installer did, you need two relays or a 5-wire module. After that it's a piece of cake. I'm with top, for having to do the work of wiring the thing in should just get a nice alarm deal.

I just looked it up, they put a DEI 451M Door Lock Relay Module in my truck to hook up the locks to the keyless/remote start.

your truck, just like just like strang3majik truck came without factory keyless in which 2 relays or a 451m(same thing as 2 relays) need to be hooked up for reversing polarity on both lock and unlock wires. However the factory keyless models have slightly different door lock wiring as it only needs to reverse polarity the unlock wire and a straight 12V positive to the lock wire. you can reverse them both and will still lock and unlock. However he is trying to add a factory keyless control box without taking into consideration the trucks' wiring is different. Ya know what i mean?
