I bought a used Ford 500. It has an Automate AM1 installed under the dash. I do not have any remotes nor do I want to use this unit. Besides the Dome lamps stay on until the battery kill kicks in and the trunk dash switch and on the remote don't work. I have the install manual, but I am not sure what actions to take to restore this to normal.

Everything should be located under the drivers side dash. Find the brain of the  AM1, follow every wire from it to where it connects to the car and disconnect it. Its gonna depend on who installed it to whether the connections are soldered or not. But most importantly make sure any bare wire is taped up well with some high quality electrical tape. 3M Tempflex 1700 or something similar.
