I am getting ready to do my first Murano and noticed that DEI has a warning about installing a neutral saftety relay is a must. Can someone clarify for me exactly what extra is required over the normal install? I have done hundreds of installs and have never seen such emphasis on this subject.

2007 Nissan Murano (not a PTS)

DBALL for the bypass & integration of an Avital 5303 (Alarm/RS)

Thanks in advance for the help all.

NSS is only relevant to manuals, some have a second (apart from VSS) hall effect switch built into the gearbox, it goes to ground when the vehicle is in neutral. Connect your NSS to that and you can set it up as an auto, i.e. R/S at any time.

It is the "Smart Key" version of the Murano (not the PTS) - everything I pull up on DEI (xpresskit.com) warns me of the necessity of a NSS relay being installed or the vehicle will jump, even in gear.

Can someone walk me through what exactly I should be doing, if necessary?

DEI and idatalink both say to use a relay in at the underhood fusebox. just follow the instructions that DEI shows you about wiring in the relay at the underhood fusebox. This will keep it from starting if in gear if i remember correctly.

Not sure if you've already bought the components, but the Fortin Evo-ALL bypass has a simplified installation that is much easier than the DB-All. It will require a hardware version 3.0 or higher and firmware version 4.0 or higher bypass but it makes life easy on newer Nissans. From what I can see in the install guide, it does not require the extra relay either.
