Does the air bag icon come on when you simply use the key?

OK
H3/2 RED / White That's one reason for the warning lights it won't start CONNECT.
Starter one, cut key side to H3/5,GREEN.
Starter side to H3/4 Violet.
Starter 2, use a relay and a diode (1N4004)as per the diagram:-
tac_2nd._starter.bmp
Diode use is MANDATORY to protect your R/S.
Wiring the two starters together as you've done is inviting trouble and expense down the road.
Why do you think some car manufacturers split those circuits?
And that's probably the second reason.

When all is done you will probably need to get the airbag warning light cleared.

Tacoma airbag light will go out if you disconnect the battery for 1 minute.
