The remote starter I installed is triggering the OEM alarm when first initiated. I need help troubleshooting.
I installed an Excalibur RS-230-DP remote starter into a 1999 Jaguar XK8.   It has negative ignition so I had to install relays to convert the remote starter's positive outputs to negative. It works fine if I have the OEM alarm disarmed when I activate the remote starter.   However, if I have armed the OEM alarm then triggering the remote starter sets off the OEM alarm. I have not hooked up any of the wires from the RS-230-DP's 13-pin connector to the OEM alarm features.   I read somewhere that the OEM alarm is disarmed through the door unlock module, but that concerns me that triggering the remote starter may unluck the doors, which obviously wouldn't be ideal. I read somewhere else that the RS-230-DP sends a quick pulse to the ACCY wire before initiating the start sequence, which is supposed to disarm the OEM alarm, but apparently that isn't happening for whatever reason.   Does anyone have any experience with this set up or anything similar? Any ideas appreciated.   A considerable amount of information concerning the installation of a remote starter in the Jaguar XK8 is here: http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-x308-xj8-xjr-27/remote-starter-installation-70093/

I haven't done an XK8 to be certain, but all the wiring guides suggest that the Alarm is only disarmed

with an unlock.  As you mentioned, unlocking the doors prior to a remote start is a security risk but
unavoidable on some vehicles.  With your RS-230-DP system, you can set it up to unlock before a
remote start and lock after the engine is started ( with no extra intervention on the owners part ).

In the  RS-230-DP  Programming Features Matrix, Feature #8, set to Option 3, will unlock the doors prior to a

remote start, turning off the Jag's alarm.  Setting Feature #4 to Option 2 and connecting the Sat.
Relay Ports Green wire to the Jag's Lock wire, will lock the doors as soon as the engine is started.
Of course, you will need to convert the RS-230-DP's (-) Unlock output and the Sat. Port Green wire
(-) Output to (+) to properly interface with the Jag's lock and unlock wires.  Test to be certain, as
there is conflicting info on the Jag's door lock and unlock wires, one listing has them as Type B,
while all the others have them as Type A.

Soldering is fun!
