Hello I am installing this remote starter on my vehicle for the first time. I am having some difficulty as the instructions are very vague. Avital 4105 Install, 98 Toyota Paseo -- posted image.
Just a few questions.
What Connections are necessary to use just the remote start and which are optional?
I assume all the connections on the 6 pin connector the 5 pin connector and ground on the 9 pin? I don't have power locks or a factory alarm. I don't have a brake switch, is it fine to connect 3, 4, and 5 (2nd status defogger???)on the 5 pin to power or ground, just to get the module to start the car? I know this is not proper way to do it, I will try my best to find the neutral safety switch.
For pin 2 on the 6 pin connector, this would be on the ignition switch? Is this one optional?

Notes :

H2/3  BROWN  (+) BRAKE SWITCH SHUTDOWN WIRE must be connected.  Hood Pin is highly recommended because of
the safety factor it provides.  Horn and Rear Defogger are optional.  While you could try running in Virtual Tach Mode,
connecting the Tach wire and running in Tach Mode is more reliable.  Use a Digital Multi Meter to verify all vehicle wires
prior to making your quality soldered connections.

Soldering is fun!

Note if tach wire is at OBD (check connector) it will be at pin 9 (corner of connector.

Thank you very much that is extremely helpful. For the tach I was going to use a wire from the gauge cluster that I found steddy at .8v during idle but jumped to 1.8vish and up when revved. Should be the same as the ignitor, or not? Both are very easy to access. For the transmission ground this is the ground wire coming out of the transmission harness, correct?

Not exactly sure what you mean by "transmission ground".  The Avitals' connection to Chassis Ground is just that, a

solid connection to the vehicles metal frame ( or negative terminal of the battery ).

If you are looking for a vehicle wire that shows ground when the transmission is in Neutral, that won't be necessary

on an automatic transmission vehicle.  If your Paseo has a manual transmission, then you have the wrong system.
Here is a note from Page 13 of your 4105V Owners Guide :
Caution
This product is designed for fuel injected, automatic transmission vehicles
only. Use of this product in a standard transmission vehicle is dangerous and
contrary to the product's intended use.

Soldering is fun!

Oh I was confused I read it wrong, its referring to chassis ground on vehicles with automatic.
