Circuit city put this in wife's KIA about 7 years ago. It has worked fine. Came home yesterday and noticed the parking lights were on while the light switch was off. Got in car to start it to charge the battery and all the dash lights were on like it lost its mind. It wouldn't start as the battery had drained so I put a battery charger on the battery to charge it for the night so I could try to troubleahoot things this morning. In the middle of the night while charging the car alarm sounded by itself...stopped and sounded again. I discounted the battery to finish the charge by isolating from the car circuits. The battery is now fully charged and reconnected and it has not done anything strange since last night.
Doess anybody know what can cause all this Bazar behavior? For troubleshooting... Where to start to isolate things?
I just don't trust it right now.
Thanks!!!

Low batteries can do weird things. I would keep an eye on it. How long did the car sit before you started having issues ?

Hi, and thanks.
The KIA had only sat for a day or two. It's used regularly.
The battery is less than a year old and is a decent Interstate battery.
I was hoping I would find a light switch left on or something like that but I didn't... but I guess something less obvious might be draining it.
Also, it's weird that the alarm went off by itself in the middle of the night while the battery was being charged... It had been charging for probably 6 hours at that point. (10 amp charger so it "should" have been mostly charged)
I guess that's why I suspect the Python 1400xp as a possible culprit.
Ugh... I hate car problems like these.

Yea they can be fun. I would start with a battery check/charging system check and a parasitic draw test to see what's going on.

Thanks,
Yes, I'm doing just that...checking the basics and looking for a parasite draw.
This may have nothing to do with the Python.
I might be blaming it prematurely. 😀😀
