transponder probs

Hi guys new to this . british car vauxhall(GM) 1.4 i  starter cranks, fuel pump runs ok engine fires for a few secs immobiliser light flashes indicating fault  old key with chip broken new one got from dealer he says his computer cannot access car system to allow new key to be programed he says fault in wiring or something !!open cheque book stuff.  i take it the immobiliser is cutting off the ignition circuit  as everything else works ok . i have held old broken key onto cylinder no joy  can i by pass imobiliser any ideas Thanks from the caring scotsman

It sounds like it has VATS if you are saying the key that broke had a chip in the shaft. that chip or pellet is actually a resistor and if you want to bypass this you need to measure the resistence of the resistor on the key. That is if you still have it. If you do, then you can permenantly bypass the system by placing a resistor across the two very thin white wires coming from the key cylinder. the 2 white wires are found in the main ignition harness and they are in an orange casing that actually looks like a single thicker wire.
