OK. I'm stuck. I spent all last weekend installing a DEI Valet model 562t keyless entry/remote start in my 98 ford F-150 with a 4.2 V6. I almost have everything working, but the remote start is giving me a fit!
Here's what happens:
with the key in the off position, the remote start will activate and crank the starter three times without turning over the car.
With the key in the run position, the starter will crank and the engine will start and run.
Naturally, I want to be able to remote start my car without putting the key in the ignition and putting it in the run position!
I don't have a PATS key, and I'm not planning on connecting the tach wire.
Does anyone know where I may have gone wrong or have a good website for troubleshooting?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

if you are positive you dont have PATS then you either dont have all you ING wires hooked up or not sure about that unit as i do not use DEI you may need to hook up tach or program unit not to use tach mode

i was also thinking that if you have a late model 98 like 9/98 to 12/98 that may have the new wire harness and that would require you to hook up the 2nd ign wire for a 99 model which is RED / black
