i have the matrix rsx3.5 installed on my car and it worked fine for while but my backup battery somehow was shorted out do to an open (+) connection (my fault), i replaced the backup battery module and my alarm works but the remote starter dosent. When i press the button to remote start the lights flash like normal and u can hear the brain click to engage like its about to start but it dosent crank. It goes through this cycle like 3 or 4 times then stops. I personally dident install this alarm but i have the know how to get down there and test different connections for voltage ect. Is there anything you guys can reccomend my doing to try and figure out the prob?? Or is the brain posssibly ruined?

im not familiar with that brand of starter you have. Its possible that on the main power harness for the brain there are two 30 amp fueses, sounds like one fuse might be blown? that would be my guess.

What year and make vehicle?
Locate the starter wire for your car and check the relay that powers it. Check for the negative pulse out of the brain that drives that relay during start attempts.

Its a 1995 acura legend. How do i test the the neg pulse?? just hook the neg of a volt meter to the wire neg pulse from the brain then the positive on the meter to a positive source??
ps: you said to check the relay that powers the starter wire, is that a relay that would have been added by the installer or somthing already in the car? (The car does start and run fine witht the keys)

Have you checked the fuses on the relay harness
Coming from the brain, there is a 7 wire ribbon cable that is connected to a 4-pack of relays (comes with the unit). The purple wire in the ribbon supplies the starter relay with a negative output while the remote start is trying to turn over the starter. Connect the negative lead to the purple wire and positive lead to a constant 12 volt source. Attempt a remote start and see if you get any output from the purple wire. It should only show voltage for a moment during each start attempt.(You might want to use a 12-volt test light instead)
If this wire doesn't give an output then the brain needs to be repaired.
You can also touch for a moment the relay where the purple wire enters the harness to ground and see if the starter actuates. By doing this you'll know that the relay is not faulty.
