Say that title 4 times fast.  Aight, got a shaved door kit without any solenoids.  What type of local store would I be looking for to get some cheap ones?  Could I use an actuator?  Even though solenoids only pull, and actuators do both?

Can't use actuators, they don't generally pull enough. As for your store, a hot rod shop would probably have them, some stereo shops may carry them (but don't buy trunk solenoids they aren't powerful enough). It really depends on where you are, someone may live in the same town as you and could know where to get them, for example here in AZ you could get them at at least five places including a local wholeseller.

Use a trunk release solenoid. buy one and see if the pull in enough. Most are 15- 25 lbs of pull.

But WHERE do I get them.  That's the big key.  I could order them online anywhere, but the shipping kills any deal.
