I bought a 94 civic EX coupe almost a month ago.  The guy I bought it from had an aftermarket keyless entry/starter disable installed.  I don't know what brand it is, but it seems like something cheap.  The remotes don't work unless you're standing right next to the door.  I want to remove it so I can either, just go without it, or install something better.  What's the best way to go about removing it without messing something up, or making it unable to start?

I only install things in my car, cuz I don't wanna screw up anybody elses...

locate the main brain, follow the wiring back, and slowly undo everything done, soldering all connections

B4 you take it out,try :
1)new batts in remotes,
2) extending the ant wire(I've seen ALOT of PROFESSIONAL installers leave these with the twisty tie left on the bundle somewhere under the dash..)
Ihave had the bad experience of working for someone who carried alot of 20 dollar alarms, and had alot of problems when i got there,i got it under some control,FIRST i threw away ALL THE SCOTCH LOCKS!!!!!!!! 99.99% of the problems i fixed(others installs of course!) were directly caused by them, you cant screw them up,they just suck!
and ,at least I tried to impress certain techniques i have picked up over the years, like EXTENDING AN ANTENNA,i dont think i was in this biz more than a month, and when someone came in to complain about reception(MUST I GO ON??) the same applied to these wires that went nowhere!
i could go on for pages..
