I was helping a friend wire in some undercarrage lights on his new chevy (I have done this on my superduty with no problems). The overall schem was two lights mounted under the truck, power for the lights is from the power distrubution under the hood (big box on the left side under the hood) basicly from the battery. we tied in a relay that is activated by a tap into the grey/black wire in the A pillar that goes up to the dome light.
We get it all hooked up, go to test it and nothing, no dome light either. BUT the door lights still work. Checked every fuse, checked continuity on the wire to the dome light (grey/black). I am lost as to what has happened in this truck. we disconected all that we did and still nothing. I have done a fair amount of wiring before and this just does not make sense. Please help

Relay wiring should have worked.............I'm sure there is NO bare wires anywhere......? ! ? !

Do U still have power to Power Distribution Box?
I think there is a couple of Fuse-able Links in the Main Battery wires and did U check the BIG fuses?

yeah we checked for no bare wires, we looked at the fusable links. plus EVERYTHING but the dome light works in the truck. the door lights, the other overhead lights. truck runs. just the domelight died. does this have a gem module that monitors the interior lights could there be a problem there?
this one has me baffled

we mounted lights under the truck, the goal is to have them come on whenever the dome light is on. They light up where you will step out of the vehicle. Avoid snakes, mud puddles ect. I wired a set into my ford last year and they have been great. This buddy wanted the same thing.

I am not a chevy guy, Could the BCM be the problem What else would be affected? I imagine that is what ford calls the GEM. Thanks for all your help
