Installed a Autostart 2300 Two way, works fine except it doesn't usually start on the first try. It usually fails to start then try's again then starts fine. Once in a while it will start on the first attempt.

So heres what I did to trouble shoot

-Nissan sentra has 2 Crank wires so I hooked up the purple wire from Autostart unit to Starter 1, then hooked up 5th relay from autostart unit (onboard relay) to the second starter wire of vehicle.  I tried to swap them, hooking up 5th relay to the 1st starter wire and second starter to the normal wire but would not crank.

-Is this a problem with the Tach adjustment that should be done? or is this a problem with the starter wires/5th onboard relay? The second starter wire should not require a relay correct? Because it has a onboard relay?

Did you change the jumper on the side of the CPU to 2nd CRANK ? From the sounds of it you did, but check to make sure that it's on 2nd CRANK. Otherwise, try relearning the tach or switch the tach wire location to another wire for a better signal.

if swapping green and purple wires resulted in a no crank situation then one of those 2 wires is not coming on properly.
When the jumper is on 2nd crank both wires energize and power down at exactly the same time.
I would check your power wires make sure both have 12V and then both green and purple to make sure they're going to 12V during the crank cycle.

well, as far as the 12volt goes, there is only 1 12 volt wire in the harness, should I possibly try to get the other 12volt to the battery lead? Basically I have both 12volt wires (coming off the autostart)connected to a single 12volt hot wire in the ignition harness.

And since its  a nissan, i figured they have 2 wires, 1 main for normal use, and the second one is for extra help during cold weather situaitons.

Ok i swapped brains to check to see what would happen, same problem. Can someone double check my wiring (and yes i tested all wires)

12V-WHITE/ Red

Ignition-BLACK/ red

Accessory-White

Starter-BLACK/ White

Starter2-BLACK / YELLOW

Does anyone else think I could need to do something else with the above wires?

I tested all the above wires and all test true. I have the jumper on the correct "crank" pin. I even took 12volt straight from battery to check to make sure I was getting enough juice. I then tested both crank wires, both tested about 9-10 volts during crank of vehicle.

is it possible you just need to program for a bit longer crank time?  i've had a few older throttle body units like that, that wont start on the first attempt but fire up right away on the second, and programming for a slightly longer crank duration solves the problem every time.....

2002 Sentra. How do you program it for a longer crank time?  Using manual tach mode adjustment?

Edit: Actually i dont think i can adjust the tach mode because the 1 way units only allow you to program using Auto tach mode and manual, but doesnt allow you to adjust it, the 2 ways allow yout o adjust it.

There an additional ACC wire that MAY need to be powered up, but seeing that is starts the 2nd time, it leads me to believe that it's not a necessary wire, but you never know. What you need to do is wire up a relay like this: http://www.velocitymotorsport.com/images/install_notes/2nd_accessory_relay.jpg

Try this out and see if this helps.
