96 ford explorer factory alarm

I am installing an aftermarket alarm in a 96 ford explorer do i have to do anthing special to disable the factory alarm?

Depending on the aftermarket alarm you have. You should have some sort of disarm wire which will allow you to connect that to the Factory Alarm Disarm wire. It will be a negative dark GREEN/ purple wire. It is found in the driver kick panel.
You can also do a Search. The search button is on the top right.

there is about four or five of those dark GREEN/ purple wires in the kick.  you can trace the proper wire back to the dr rear panel where the jack goes in that compartment.  thats where the keyless/alarm brain is.  i did this in a 97, so it should be the same.  i tapped into it under the rear seat in a wire loom.  it sucks to run a wire, but then theres less room for mistakes.  it needs a (-) pulse.
