2003 windstar, disable pats system?

The keys are not $100.... more like $25. Permanently disabling PATS isn't easy to do.... Most Fords do hold up to 10 keys in their memory, programming a new one bumps one of the other ones, from what I remember. Gus Wherever I go, that is where I end up......

Put the real key on the visor then give everyone a door key. Put a DEI remote start in the vehicle and use the WHITE/ blue -trigger remote start through a push button and then use a regular key to take over for the remote start. Buy the keys. Have you or the other person involved ever hear of the internet. Don't come with that "He can only get them from the dealership" bullshhh. ETC...Certified Security Specialist

You could install PATS Unit & hook up to Starter Kill Relay to use as many keys as you want..........But never mention it to any employees ( or the wife)MO

Don't Learn from Others Mistakes

You Might Be the One That Knows.

Step 1. Make sure you can actually buy a cheap metal key that will fit into the keyhole and turn. My ex had a Focus.......she had a metal key that would work the doors, but it was not long enough for the ignition. 2. Insert the metal key into the ignition, hold the old transponder key right next to it, and try to start the van...... make sure it all starts and works.......now on to do the bypass. 3. Buy a bypass module that is designed for remote start. Audiovox AS-TCBM, DEI 555U or 556U, bypasskit.com TBKIII. 4. Place a transponder key in the bypass module. The blue "Ford" oval should be under the wire loop that's inside the box----if it's not lined up, it won't work. 5. Take the steering column apart; place the module's ring around the keyhole. The ring is rather large and will slip around-----use a piece of tape or zip tie to make the loop smaller or it won't stay in place. 6. The bypass module has two wires usually; red and blue. Connect the red to a wire that comes on when the ignition is on. Connect the blue to ground. On the DEI 556U, there is also a black wire that MUST be grounded. 7. Make sure the van starts with the cheap key. TIP: On that Windstar, look under the steering column and you'll see a few holes. Most of them have a screw; one of them doesn't. Turn the ignition to the Run position. Insert a long, thin, pointy tool into the empty hole. This will allow you to slide the entire key cylinder out of the column; making the job easier. When the key cylinder is out, don't go moving the key around-----it must be left in the Run position to be able to reinsert it into the column.
