I just bought a 98 4runner with an aftermarket alarm system, and I can't figure out how to turn it on. I found the module, and all it says on it is 'made in america' it has a picture of an american flag on it as well. on the back i found some wiring diagrams, and a serial number 'a57110'. Also there is a device attached to it labelled 'Potter Brumfield VF4-45F11' wich i believe is a relay to shut off the starter. The keyless entry unit only has two buttons and a red light on it, no markings other than a FCC id. There is a little red valet switch mounted near the floor, and a red light in the dash that flashes when you lock or unlock the doors. The keyless entry does work, but the alarm does not seem to be activated. Can anyone help me identify this, or give me some tips on what i might try to get it activated.

Thanks

Ryan

Hi Ryan, that unit doesn't sound familiar, but if you can post the wiring diagram you found on the back of the unit, it would help us help you.

Hey Ryan,

If you post the FCC ID of the unit and the remote I can probably locate it for you!

FCC Id on the remote is 5523518T1 - I'll have to get the module one later, as im stuck at work now. I'll also take a picture of the casing as well. I took apart the casing, and tried to locate some sort of tag on the circuit board, but there was nothing. Just chip manufactures names such as toshbia and atmel. It did have a dip switch with 4 switchs on it, and on the back of the module casing there is a diagram for what the switches do, just some configuration settings stuff. I'll try to take picture of all theese things tommorow. Thanks guys.
