I have a 99 Honda Accord that I want to put a remote starter in. Ive been doing research and trying to figure out which one fits what I want. Lots of sales pages, but not much for consumer feedback, which is why Im here.
What Ive come up with are the following:
1. AutoPage 615
2. CompuStar 1W900FM-S
3. CompuStar 1WAMA-S
4. Valet 562T
Is one of these clearly better than the others, or clearly worse? Is the 3000 feet claimed for the 1W900 remotely close to reality?
Thanks!

I agree, Compustar is more than a good reliable unit. It looks like the two units you listed are drastically different. The FM version is a long long long range 1 way starter. The AM version is a 1 way shorter (still long though) range starter alarm? I use the FM version and have had instances where my range was over 1km.

Compustar is available in the following formats.

1 way remote start / keyless long range - 1WAMS

2 way remote start / keyless long range - 2WAMS

1 way remote start / keyless super long range - 1WFMS

2 way remote start / kelyess super long range - 2WFMS

To all models there is an alarmed version of, sub the letter "A" in before the "S" in the model #, ie: 2WAMAS

If you cannot see your vehicle, the 2 way device will send a return page when the vehicle has started or if the doors are opened or closed. If you are a km away from the vehicle, then the FM version should be considered.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

It seems like CompuStar is considered one of the best, most reliable brands, yes? Besides the AM/FM frequency difference between the 1WFM-S and 1WAM-S, are there any real feature differences?

I ordered up a 1W900FM-S for my wife's car (the Accord). If that works out well, Ill either get the same thing for my car or one of the 2-way starters.
The Accord has some type of computer chip in the key. Do I need a bypass module for the starter to work correctly? Is there any difference between brands of modules?
Also, why the hell does is cost US$60 to get a replacement Honda ignition key?! Thinking of that, is it possible to get a replacement key with the chip in it and hide that close to the ignition, and thereby forego the bypass module? Just wondering.
Thanks for the help!
