I have the crimestopper EZ-84 that I am trying to install on an 01 grand am. What is wire 5(negative start activation input/oem interface/turbo timer)? Also do the remotes come pre programmed for the box? Or do they have to be setup before they will communicate with the box? Also is the oem disarm and rearm needed to be used on this car? Thanks for any and all information

If wire 5 is green then you don't need it.The remotes do come programed already. You don't need the arm/dis-arm wires either,You have to bypass the passlock 2 for remote starting.

Thanks, I've got the remote start part working now. It starts and shuts off of course. I'm having problems with the gm-sl unit now. Do I need to hook up the Purple wire on connector 1 to OBDII connector pin 2? Is that all that is necessary to get the gm-sl unit to learn the key? I tried it with just the pink wire going to the ignition but that did not work. Any information would be great, thanks.

I did hook up the purple wire into the obdII so it seemed to learn the code. Now what I have going on is the car starts for a second and shuts right back off, the security light blinks on the dash. Is there a certain programming we have to do to get the car to stay running? The gm-sl blinked like it was supposed to when we set it up so I am assuming it is all set. Thanks for any info

I am not familiar with the GMSL,but most of those modules require the purple wire to go to the wire in the second slot on the OBDII connector. If the car starts then shuts down and the security light is blinking, then the problen is definitly the bypass module.Go over the directions for the GMSL and make sure everything is connected right.you can try to start the car with the key,and while it's running press the remote start button and then take the key out of the ignition,If it stays running then the bypass module is correct.

Hello, I've been working on getting my remote start all setup on my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am.  I have a Crimestopper EZ-84 remote starter and GM-SL bypass.  I got it setup so that it remote starts and stays on.  I hooked up the lock and unlock wires from the remote starter to the bypass, and the functions partially work.  Neither the lock or unlock will work when the car is not running which I am not sure why.  The lock does work fine when the car is running, but the unlock only works on the front passenger and the rear passenger doors.  I was assuming that the remote starter needed to be set on a double pulse since it takes two pushes of the factory remote to unlock all doors, but that did not change anything when I programmed it to do a double pulse, it just tried to unlock those 3 doors twice.

Thanks for any information

I looked at the instructions for the GM-SL and it says for your car that the door lock control and the trunk control on are functional with 12v ignition only.. I would assume that means only when the car is running.. That is the first time I ever noticed that....
