hey everyone im learning how to install alarms now and i got a compustar alarm/ rs for my car. i have a 2000 chevy malibu ls. would i need to do anything tricky to make the alarm work? i know i need a bypass the 791 mdule but do i have to do anything as far as to my lock and unlock or would it just be a easy install ?

well...since it's a 2000 malibu, the combo interfaces offered by DEI, the 1700g or 457gw, would not control the door locks which means that you are going to have to run a diode isolated wire from the door trigger to the alarm system.

the diode isolation that i'm talking about will not do anything with your locks...it will just control your door trigger so you can still use the factory alarm and have the dome light active with door opening

for door locks, look for the light blue wire in the drivers kick panel. It will be a + trigger. For unlocking all doors use the white and tan wires(+) in the drivers kick panel. The unlock wires need to be diode isolated in the same way as the door trigger when running to the alarm system. The tan wire is for the driver's priority unlock(drivers door unlocks on first like factory settings)
