Buddy of mine has an 06 monte carlo with Factory remote start.  Problem is, no security, and RS only runs for 6 minutes.  He has been told by two different dealers that he cannot remove the factory remote start.  Can we and then put in another, like the Avital 4400????   How would we even go about removing the factory remote start???

Why do you want to remove it? Just pretend like the car doesn't have a factory one and install your own.

Yep, just add a new unit with security to it. The gm factory remote starters are a real POS... they have no range and no run time. every person that I have run into that has one hates it. I've done several upgrades to these vehicles and they are not to bad, but they have their quirks. I hear astro has a range extender for certain gm models , but havn't seen it yet... If anyone has , let me know how they work...
