Add Shock Sensor to 2002 Acura RSX

I am trying to add a chock sensor to my 2002 Acura RSX Stock Arlam.  I know it can be done on the TL and CL's.  I have the Helmmanual for the car and I tried to hood the 'trigger' lead of the shock sensor up to to "Hood" pin on the "Security Control Unit - harness"  But it is not triggering the alarm.

This pin I hooked up to is +12v when the hood is closed and 'according to the Helm Manual' when it becomes +1V or Less, that mean the hood is opened and the alarm should trigger. 

Also tried to tap in to the hatch or hood wires on the "Secuirty Harness" but non of them will trigger the stock alarm either.  I know this method works on the Acura CL and TL.

Most hood triggering devices need a (-) signal input for the activation to engage. The 1 v is not low enough to trigger the hood sense device that you want , it has to be a (-) signal. You might have to put in a hood pin switch that grounds out when the hood is open.

Also , the shock sensor trigger output is usually a + output so make sure that the input trigger that you are attaching it to is also a (+) input .

The shock sensor that I have throws a ground signal when trigged.  And thats what the Factory Alarms wants to see, for it to trigger the alarm, but its not going off.

Hi muxx,  to verify you have the correct (-) trigger lead to the alarm, try arming the system, then manually apply ground to it. If it is the correct lead it should sound the alarm and if you have the correct lead from the shock sensor to the (-) trigger lead of the alarm and it isn't causing it to trigger the alarm, try adding a relay between the two.

I figure out why its not working, the "Security Control Unit" in the car wants to see a Ground for like 1/2 sec or more, and my shock sensor is only giving it a ground for a split second.  I verified this by attaching 1 wire to the ground and one wire to the pin on the harness and flicking them together fast, the alarm wouldnt go off, but if I held them for a second, it would trigger. 

 Do you know of any shock sensors that have an adjustable duration, for how long they should 'hold ground' after triggered or a shock sensor that will 'hold ground' longer.  I think the DEI 504M is made to work with OEM systems, but I have not had a chance to try one.

Also, what is the best why to hook up the shock sensor, so it is powered up only when the system is armed.
