GM Class II data bus

I've recently installed a motorolla hands free kit into my 2003 Monte Carlo, and it works beautifully.

Except for the mute option.

I have studied the subject thuroughly, and Ive learned how all of the communication from the radio-to the steering wheel mute button and the rest of the car is communicating on a class II data bus.

I have some experience with other bus controll systems, and I am familiar with the terminology, and I know I cant simply just mute my factory stereo.

I's there a provider of GM class II node "emulators" that I could splice into the bus and trip with my mute wire from the hands free kit and send the command through the data bus that "immitates the command my mute button from my steering wheel."

I dont know if the product exists yet but with the growing use of the class II data bus this may be a good product to develop!

I haven't seen or heard anything like that but I would love to see something like that.

In my quest for information on my problem, I remember seeing a Truck forum where they were discussing remotes on GM truck steering wheels. These were not running on the fore-mentioned data bus, but rather a much simpler method. I remember allso seeing add on steering wheel remotes specifically for GM trucks. Do a few searches for "GM steering wheel remote" and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.
