can a relay be fix?

i was messing with a relay and i dropped! now it doesn't work ...i notice that one of the wires in the coil is broken ... is it possible to just soldier back to is place... most likelly i'll soldier a bouch of them together on the progres... if that happens will the relay still work or do i need to buy a new one? i reaaly don't want to buy a new one... have to wait for tomorrow driver to a autostore  waste more money...

you can fix it but don't do it. I used to fix transformers, tv's vcr's and almost every electronic gadget that I could lay my hands on when I was a kid (for fun and curiousity) but had many fun (and bad) experiences. The original winding from any coil that is used for induction is dipped into a varnish solution that makes it not vibrate and stay in place. Also you got to connect only 1 wire. If you connect more then your number of windings gets reduced, thereby not complying with the original manufacturer's specs. If you don;t use the varnish solution, your wires will vibrate and can heat up and burn. yes, I have done that too. So moral of my experiences is do it if you want to test it for fun, but ultimately get a new relay for your car if you want to protect your car and I am sure you do. money? if you can maintain a car, you can buy a relay for sure! good luck.

you are right, you can fix it, but not to the same safety standards as it came from the factory. Technically you can do it to make it work. Did you try it already? I admit I had fun doing it too. Just dont leave the relay energized for too long whiel you are testing it.

yea it did worked but i went to buy a new one ... $19 30-40amps...by the way ... do the relays need any oxigen or air inside of their little compatment... cuasu i want to see if can seil it completally to make it waterproof with some liquid electrical tape

They will work with oxygen or in vaccuum too. it relly doesn't make a difference since they are spring loaded. The spring will pull no matter where it is, even if it be on the moon. Where are you trying to put this relay? It would be best to place it where no water can come because water and electricity aren't a very good combination. Electricity can leak though water and may cause a short. Why can you not put it in a place that no water can reach it? That would be your best bet.
