does any body know why the dimmer lights  of a buick 96 lesabre would go out when doing a radio install??     also if you do how to fix it and at least the wiring diagrams for the dimmer lights schematic

The problem more than likely is not the switch. There is a mistake behind the radio. Check on the radio harness the dimmer and illumination.

12V DC Battery(Constant)Orange Miscellaneous, radio & cluster fuse 9C 10 amp In-panel fuse block 
Switched AccessoryYellow  8D 10 amp In-panel fuse block 
Ground Black Pins F8, F9 & E16 
Power Antenna Dark green  
Illumination Gray & yellow  
Dimmer PURPLE / white  
Steering Wheel Control Wire Light green  
Left Front + Tan  
Left Front - Gray  
Right Front + Light green  
Right Front - Dark green  
Left Rear + Brown  
Left Rear - Yellow  
Right Rear + Dark blue  
Right Rear - Light blue
