04 Scion xB, Alarm/Remote Start Wiring

I did a search, and for all the wiring diagrams for the Scion, it says to meter the stated wires while the key was in the hole. Im just wondering why do you meter the wires for? Dont you just hook up the (-) lock/unlock wires from the alarm to the corresponding wires to the Scion?

the wire guide may be wrong, i have seen it severl times, you are just doulb checking it.

Parking LampGREEN/ BLACK (DR) (+)13 PIN CONN ON FRONT OF FUSE BOX **
Power LockBROWN / YELLOW14 PIN CONN IN DRIVER KICK PANEL
Power UnlockGREEN/ BLACK14 PIN CONN IN DRIVER KICK PANEL ***
* Both Wires Are (-) Trigger Must Diode Isolate, Stripe Towards Factory Wire. **Passenger Side Parking Lights-GREEN YELLOW (+) In Same Connector. ***Using YELLOW/BLACK (-) In Same Conn Will Give You Driver Door Priority. First Pulse-Driver Door, Second Pulse All Doors. This Is Key Cylinder Wire. Child Safety Door Lock Circuit
Child Safety Wire Is BLUE/RED In Same Conn As Door Lock Wires.
