OK, I've searched but came up empty. It appears the switch in the center console to control the rear window defroster has the timer built into it. But the timer controls a remote relay. I am installing a CodeAlarm CA-425 remote start unit. It has a latched output for the defroster.

Any reason I cannot bypass the timer and go directly to the wire from the timer to the relay and have the CodeAlarm unit ground it when this function is selected?

thanks, Steve

Yup....go to the black wire in the drivers kick. Its in a 10 pin connectoer and the wires kinda heavy.

Its a POS(+) you need at least 15amps of fuse protection for your relay....it draws some current..

No, I think you misunderstood what I was planing. I want the CodeAlarm box to control the negative of the OEM rear window defroster relay.

Specifically, there is a wire that comes out of the console switch that grounds the low-current side of the relay. Why can't I connect this to the CodeAlarm unit and just have it control the realy, therefore bypassing the console switch?

This should be a low-current solution and not need any high-current sources.

You dont need to go to the switch. This is the way I know how to do what you want to do.

If your looking for another way of triggerin the defroster.....keep looking, or wire it like I suggested and its done
