i recently replaced a stock stereo with another stereo, the stereo works fine, but i have since lost my dashboard lights, fuses are fine and i know they worked prior to installing the stereo, so is there something i am missing or not connecting? makes it very hard to drive at night...

Make sure you didnt use the dimmer or illum. wires for your ground or that they are not touching ground. Booth will test ground untill you turn on your lights. This can also damage the dimmer circuit in the car.
