< color=#222222>Installed a new head unit last year and included a cheap cmos backup camera.That camera works fine but I wanted to convert to a CCD camera for a better image. I ordered a CCD Camera that had the same in-line connector as my current camera. That camera did not work even after I bypassed the connector and spliced the wires directly together. The camera wire only has the positive,negative and video in it. If I spice the three from my current working unit to the new camera it still does not work. I assumed the new camera was defective and had the vendor replace it but the replacement camera did not work either. I returned it and bought a different model and it does not work either... I even hooked the camera up to a 12v source and ran the RCA video plug to a monitor and cannot get it to work on the bench. I'm not much of an electronic wizard but why can't I get this three wire setup to work. I even tried grounding the camera chassis to the frame but still nothing. Am I missing something obvious or am I unlucky enough to get three bad cameras in arow

So your original camera still works?

Yea, every time I give up and plug the old camera in it works great, just does not have a very clear image.

Ok.

It's probably the camera specs. The chances of 3 faulty cameras should be very unlikely...

What display?

What new camera?

And preferably also, what original camera?

- ie, what model numbers or spec sheets etc.

I'd be looking at their "standards" like PAL, NTSC, SECAM etc. (PAL & NTSC are very similar hence many receivers handle both, but SECAM is totally different...)

Then their output specs etc though they are usually similar (1.75 Vpp or whatever at whatever impedance) though it might be a resolution issue.

And confirm their power requirements.
